Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the ability to maximise a websites audience by making sure it appears in search engine results. Making it into the top ranking websites it crucial as often searchers do not bother will websites rated lower down the list. Keywords and/or phrases are important to include in your website. Website owners need to consider how people are searching for their product or service, what words they are using, which sites are beating mine to the top of the list and what searches highlight my site.

The more your websites name pops up on the internet the more likely it is that a search engine will guide users to it. The best inbound links are ones which come from higher ranked sites than yours on a search engine list, are actually related to the topic of your site and use the same keywords as yours. There are a number of things to consider when building your site to maximise search engine ranking. Think about the words you would type into a search engine to find information like yours. Think about the kind of words you would use and the results that search engines fine when you use those words. Look at the websites which are the top of the list and see what keywords they use and how prominently.

Keywords are definitely importantly but when writing for a site you must remember that people have to read it. If they don't like it they won't return. There is a fine line between what people like to read and what is going to generate maximum ranking on a search engine.
