Link Popularity and Link Building
Link Popularity is a term which generally means how many links are pointing to your websites and how well you rank in search engines because of these inbound links. When building your links you should keep in mind a factor called "relevancy" which simply means that your site should be linked to other websites from your own niche domain.
Link building is an art and really requires a great deal of market research as well as some good knowledge of search engine optimization. Whenever people start their link building campaign, they start posting links here and there without even knowing the websites to which they are linking. First of all you should fully understand your website and the purpose for which you built it. After that research on websites which are similar or having a same domain like your website.
You can also post your websites t
o many good directories but in appropriate categories so that a quality inbound link can be obtained. Remember to place your main key phrases in the anchor text so that you can get good rankings for those keywords. Many SEO's don't have patience and they opt for automated link submissions, but this is my humble request not to opt for this kind of link building as it will ruin your hard work.
Last but not the least if you really want to get some quality inbound links than start focusing on your content, the more quality you put in your content there will be more chances of getting quality inbound links.
