7 Deadly Mistakes to Avoid When Running an Online Business (part 3)

3. Complicating the Webpages

Forget about putting those fancy graphics and eye-catchy animated introduction that can takes 30 seconds or so to load completely. Visitors like to see simple, clear and easy to read web pages. People who are desperate want to get a solution to their problem fast. They will usually get impatient with such delays and ended up accessing another page immediately to look for the ones they are seeking for.

Another thing is to avoid the 'supermarket' approach in your webpage. Having too many types of products or overcrowded advertisements that confuse the visitor will usually make them click to other websites after a while.

Most successful websites are mini sites consisting of typically 3 pages. The first page is the "sales-pitch" webpage. This tells the visitor directly and quickly what the product or service is all about. Typically the design has a simple white background, a clear specific headline, to-the-point short introdu

ction, topic headlines, testimonials, the exact product or service to solve the particular problem of the customer, a sign-off from the author and a "PS:" for extra information. The second page is "thank-you" webpage that will appear after a payment has been made. In this page, links are provided for customers to download the product or to sign-up services they have paid for. You can include bonuses here if customers buy the primary product or service that bundles with some other related ones and its usually for a limited time offer. The third page can be optional that describes the author and future product or service releases.

Tips: Design your webpage to specialise on a single niche product or service that people want.
